Do I need an account to play?
No. Choose a 9×9 or 13×13 board, your colour and a level, then press Play — or just tap an intersection and the game starts as Black. An unfinished game is kept on this device. Leave never counts as a loss.
Which rules does the site use?
Area scoring (stones on the board plus empty points you surround), komi 7.5 for White, no suicide, and no repeating a previous board position (superko). Two passes in a row end the game.
Why do I have to capture dead stones?
The counting is fully automatic, so stones still on the board count as alive. Before you pass, remove the opponent stones that cannot live — otherwise they are counted for your opponent.
How strong is the computer?
Four levels. Beginner and Easy make loose moves on purpose. Medium and Hard run thousands of simulated games per move with Monte Carlo tree search; they are good sparring partners on 9×9, not professional strength.
